Tooth extraction sounds scary, but it’s actually more common than you may think. There are numerous reasons Dr. Tiffany may deem it necessary to remove one or more of your child’s teeth throughout the course of treatment. For example, sometimes a baby tooth has a misshapen or long root that prevents it from falling out as it should, and the tooth must be removed to make way for the permanent tooth to erupt. At other times, a tooth may have an infection or is recommended to be removed for orthodontic correction.
While this procedure is typically very quick and easily tolerated, it is important to share with the doctor any concerns or preferences for sedation.
Dr. Tiffany will be happy to provide answers to any questions you may have about the reasoning for tooth extraction and the tooth extraction process should you like to know. Please call our office or schedule an appointment, we are always here to help!
